Ranomafana

The second day at Madagascar we went to the city of Ranomafana. We went to see the mayor and told him about why we were here in Madagascar. He was a tour guide before he became mayor so his English was very good. He educated us about the city and how they are trying to help the ecosystem by cleaning up trash. Then we went to a non profit organization called Pivot. It is a organization that provides medical supplies and does procedures for the villages and people who can’t get these items or do the procedures themselves. In the afternoon, we went to Ranomafana National Park to hike in the rain forest. We were able to see the Golden Bamboo lemur in the trees. We also saw many leeches as well. The rain forest we went into was called a secondary forest. That means that this was a rain forest before, but was burned down and later reforested.DSC_0258.JPG
